EXION® FRF Microneedling

EXION® FRF combines microneedling, which creates tiny skin micro-injuries, with radiofrequency energy that penetrates deep into the tissue. This stimulates collagen production, remodels tissue, and improves skin texture.

EXION® FRF can be used on the face and body. It is effective for treating fine lines, wrinkles, and laxity on the face, and is also used on areas like the abdomen, thighs, and arms to reduce stretch marks, improve texture, and tighten loose skin.

No, though they are similar. Both treatments use radiofrequency microneedling, but EXION® FRF is an AI-controlled system that delivers energy more precisely and typically in fewer passes. This can enhance comfort and reduce risk of overtreatment while still delivering effective collagen stimulation.

Yes. EXION® FFR is CE-marked and FDA-cleared for its intended uses. It is considered safe when performed by a trained professional using appropriate protocols. A medical consultation is required to assess suitability and minimise any potential risks.

Individual responses can vary. Most side effects are mild and temporary, including slight bleeding, redness, swelling, itching, tenderness, or a sunburn-like sensation for 24-72 hours. Small crusts may develop at the needle entry points, especially on sensitive skin, and typically shed within a week. Some clients may also notice mild bruising, dryness, or flaking. In rare cases, superficial burns, blisters, or temporary pigment changes can occur. All potential side effects will be discussed in detail during your consultation.

EXION® FRF microneedling is considered a low-downtime procedure, but some recovery time may be needed depending on your skin’s response. Redness and swelling are common for 1–3 days. You may also experience flaking or crusting for up to a week, particularly in treated body areas. We recommend avoiding sun exposure, strenuous exercise, and active skincare products for several days to support optimal healing.

Most people tolerate EXION® FRF well. A topical anaesthetic is applied beforehand to reduce discomfort, and the system’s AI technology helps ensure energy is delivered efficiently and comfortably in a single pass.

We usually recommend a course of 3 to 6 treatments, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, depending on your concerns and treatment area. Maintenance treatments may be advised every 6 to 12 months.

Improvements typically begin to appear within a few weeks, with more noticeable results developing over 2 to 3 months as collagen remodelling progresses. Skin may continue to improve for several months post-treatment.

After treatment, it’s important to keep the skin clean and avoid touching the area with unwashed hands. Makeup should be avoided for 24–72 hours or until the skin has fully recovered. Use a broad-spectrum SPF daily and avoid direct sun exposure to protect the healing skin. Hot showers, saunas, and exfoliating products should be avoided for at least 48 hours. You’ll be advised to apply recommended skincare products to support healing, hydration, and optimal results.

EXION® FRF is not suitable for individuals who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or those with active skin infections, recent skin cancer, pacemakers, bleeding disorders, or certain autoimmune skin conditions. Your practitioner will review your medical history in full to ensure it’s appropriate and safe for you.
