Yes. Side effects should be expected. Most people experience redness, swelling, and a visible grid-like pattern on the skin immediately after treatment. These marks fade over the course of days and typically slough away within 7 days, although for some individuals they may persist for up to two weeks. Other common side effects can include itching, tenderness, and a sun-burn like sensation within the first 24-72 hours. Mild bruising, dryness, or flaking may also occur. Less commonly, superficial burns, blisters, or temporary pigment changes can arise, particularly in sensitive skin. All possible side effects will be discussed in detail during your consultation so you can make an informed decision.

EXION® CLEAR RF is considered a low-downtime treatment, but visible recovery should be anticipated. Redness, swelling, and noticeable skin marks are common in the first few days, with grid marks or crusting often lasting up to a week, or longer in some cases. Most people return to normal activities within 24–48 hours, but we recommend avoiding sun exposure, active skincare ingredients, and strenuous exercise for several days to support optimal healing.

Most people tolerate EXION® CLEAR RF well. A topical anaesthetic is applied beforehand to reduce discomfort, and the system’s AI technology helps ensure energy is delivered efficiently and comfortably in a single pass.

We usually recommend a course of 2 to 5 treatments, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, depending on your concerns and treatment area. Maintenance treatments may be advised every 6 to 12 months.

Improvements typically begin to appear within a few weeks, with more noticeable results developing over 2 to 3 months as collagen remodelling progresses. Skin may continue to improve for several months post-treatment.

After treatment, it’s important to keep the skin clean and avoid touching the area with unwashed hands. Makeup should be avoided for 24–72 hours or until the skin has fully recovered. Use a broad-spectrum SPF daily and avoid direct sun exposure to protect the healing skin. Hot showers, saunas, and exfoliating products should be avoided for at least 48 hours. You’ll be advised to apply recommended skincare products to support healing, hydration, and optimal results.

EXION®CLEAR RF is not suitable for individuals who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or those with active skin infections, recent skin cancer, pacemakers, bleeding disorders, or certain autoimmune skin conditions.
