GOAL
Improve the appearance of stretch marks for smoother, more even-toned skin.
CONCERN
Stretch marks, also known as striae, are common skin changes that occur when the skin stretches or contracts rapidly, often due to weight fluctuations, hormonal changes, pregnancy, or growth spurts. They typically appear as red, purple, or white streaks across areas such as the abdomen, hips, thighs, buttocks, or arms, and can sometimes feel slightly indented or textured.
These marks form when the dermis (the deeper layer of skin) is stretched beyond its natural capacity, disrupting collagen and elastin fibres. While stretch marks are not harmful, they can affect the look and feel of the skin and may impact self-confidence for some individuals.
Stretch marks evolve over time. In their earlier stages (striae rubra), they may appear red or purple due to increased vascularity. As they mature (striae alba), they become paler and more indented as blood flow decreases and collagen structure remains disrupted.
Improving the appearance of stretch marks often involves supporting the skin’s natural regeneration. While they cannot be completely erased, their texture and visibility can often be softened with targeted care.
In-clinic aesthetic wellness treatments, such as microneedling and fractional radiofrequency, can help stimulate collagen and elastin activity in the affected area. These treatments aim to promote skin remodelling, support smoother texture, and reduce visible contrast between stretch marks and surrounding skin. Advanced regenerative solutions, including polynucleotides, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), and marine-derived exosomes, may also be used to support tissue quality, improve hydration, and encourage more uniform tone over time.
When combined with consistent skincare, sun protection, and supportive daily habits, the appearance of stretch marks may gradually improve, leaving skin looking and feeling smoother and more even.
